LG has announced just before the world
congress trade show that they will be releasing a 3d version of the LG Optimus
phone. This is very exciting news indeed. This will be one of the first glasses
free, 3d phones.
LG has released the official specifications
online.
-First of all this phone is comparable in
size to the LG Optimus LTE. It’s 9.6mm thick and only 148g. To have a 3d capable phone that rivals the
competition of regular phones for size and function is a true innovation.
-The processor
has been set to a 1.2GHz dual-core processor. This is a bit less processor
power than the LTE version of the phone. This could mean a slight performance
difference between the two generations.
-Another
downgrade from the LTE model would be the battery power. The LG Optimus 3d max
features only a 1520mAh battery instead of a 1540mAh that is on the LG optimus
LTE. This may not account for a huge difference, but I can only assume that
more power will be needed to run a 3d device, meaning the battery life might
take a hit. Hopefully the lower processer speeds may balance out the power
consumption.
-It will not
come with ice cream sandwich preloaded but is instead running 2.3 Gingerbread.
LG has commented on this issue, reflecting that there will be an update to 4.0
Ice Cream sandwich, but that it may take time and testing with the phone’s 3d
capabilities before the update will be released and able to apply to the new
Optimus 3d max platform. Lg said it will have the update available shortly
after the launch of the device.
-The internal
storage has been upgraded from the Optimus LTE. With the Optimus 3d Max
boasting 8gb of storage. This is expandable through a memory slot as well. But
with 8 times the LTE’s internal storage capacity this phone can hold some
serious data.
-The 5mp dual
digital rear cameras are capable of capturing both video and photographs in
full 3d. These can be imported to a 3d television or device, or enjoyed on the
phone in glasses free 3d.
-The phone’s
display is a 4.3 inch WVGA screen made with gorilla glass. Gorilla glass is
very strong stuff, Not that this phone should get dropped a lot, but with the
added protection of Gorillia glass you should be able to enjoy a scratch free
picture on your glasses free 3D screen for some time.
-Not to worry
as well, even if apps you may have on the phone do not appear in 3d, the phone
comes preloaded with a 3d conversion program. Applications such as Google maps
will have support for the 3d function but other applications can be converted
and run in 3d as well. You can get the true angry birds experience in 3d!
As for the
official release date for the LG Optimus 3d max, there is not an official north
American release. It is slated to come out in Korea next month with a European
and worldwide release date to follow sometime after.
